Our fond memories of the late great John Barry OBE (3 November 1933 – 30 January 2011)
We were lucky to meet Mr.Barry when he strolled into Studio 2 at Abbey Road when we were recording our second album ‘Free The Bees’. He told us stories of recording with Georgie Fame and the James Bond sound tracks from that very room. He was also impressed with our equipment from the sixties and how we were using the older equipment from the studio too. He said it looked like his gear. It was a complete pleasure to meet the man and have his blessing.
Infact his incredible soundtrack for the James Bond classic ‘You Only Live Twice’ hugely contributed as a influence to the sound of our first album ‘Sunshine Hit Me’. We listened to it all the time.
He was the master. His music is amazing! It strongly helped in forming our sound and our ambitions with music. We thank him.
