We think it’s time to talk about The Bees official artist , the amazing Tim Watkins !
Tim met Aaron Fletcher at Winchester School Of Art in the late 90’s striking up an instant bond through a shared passion for music and art. They shared a house that became the venue for a constant DJ Session that lasted for the duration of their degrees. They spent many a weekend travelling to the Isle Of Wight to DJ and hang out in Paul Butler’s Shed. After student life Tim started to work for the Gorillaz as a designer and “inspirationalist” & Aaron formed The Bees with Paul. They kept in touch and Tim frequently travelled with The Bees on many of the early tours and gigs. When “Free The Bees” (The Bees’ 2nd Album) was being recorded Tim took the reigns as the official Bees artist. He created an amazing style of montage from drawings and photographs and came up with the signature style that he rocks so well to this day. He’s designed our record sleeves, posters, T-shirts, badges, stickers, back-drops, projections, a couple of Videos ( Wash in the Rain and Winter Rose ). He really works hand in hand with us and has helped define our sound through his imagery.
We hope you enjoy the collection of work Tim has created for The Bees. There’s a shed load more out there. We’ve got some exclusive posters that we found in the basement recently that will be up for grabs in competition that we’ll be doing later in the year. Watch this space.
Check out more of Tim’s work here..
